For seven years now, the Reason to Run group has been sponsoring their annual event – "Laces for Alli" and that event will be taking place this Sunday evening, Oct. 3.
The event is to honor the memory of Allison Edwards, a beloved member of the Williamsburg community, whose life was tragically cut short by an auto accident. Each year, this event honors what Alli loved – family, friends, and the community of Williamsburg.
Those that knew Alli says she also loved working out and being outdoors, as well as "helping children to obtain the same passions as hers," Allison's mother Penny said. "This is why she joined a Reason to Run in the first place."
Each year, the group decides to collect items for a donation to an organization. Allison was very passionate about helping others and especially animals, so this year the Huntingdon County Humane Society will be the recipients. Some items asked for are cat food, dog food, paper towels, treats, cleaning supplies, toys and monetary donations.
Registration and packet pick up will be at the Rails to Trails head at 3 p.m., with the events beginning at 4 p.m.
