Gary L. “Pete” Imler, 64, of Saxton, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away at home Monday, Sept. 20, 2021.

He was born in Roaring Spring on Jan. 20, 1954, a son of the late Wilmot D. “Doc” and Verna G. (Crawford) Imler.

Gary is survived by his sisters: Bonnie Hechler and Dolly Ford, wife of John; nephew, Matthew Weitzel, husband of Pam; and a great niece, Mary Wilt, wife of Mel.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Crawford, a great niece, Chloe Weitzel, and a brother-in-law, Clarence R. Hechler.

He was a graduate of Central High School where he was a member of the FFA, and a graduate of Altoona Vo-Tech in electronics and then worked as a farmer, a gas station attendant at Weyant’s Service Station, and at Cove Shoe.

He attended Coalmont United Methodist Church when he was able and was involved with United Methodist Drama Team and was active with Bible Study.

His interests included crossword puzzles, watching NASCAR and the Dukes of Hazzard, animals, especially his dog Maggie, and was an avid Reba McEntire and Pittsburg Pirates fan.

A funeral was held Monday, Sept. 27, 2021 at the Coalmont United Methodist Church. Pastor Julie Rosensteel and Rod Snyder officiated.

Burial will take place in the Brumbaugh Cemetery, Martinsburg, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coalmont United Methodist Church, 2428 Hickory Hill Road, Saxton, PA. 16678.
