Mother Held in Baby’s Death

Musa Madara, daughter of David Madara of Bakers Summit, was arrested by Police Chief James McGraw at the home of a relative in Altoona and was held for the abandonment of her infant child on the front porch of O.J. Fay’s residence. A coroner’s jury found that the child’s death was due to abandonment and neglect. The identity of the father had not yet been determined. The young woman was placed in jail.

A movement was afoot in the Pennsylvania Legislature to tax church property.
