Anita Gutschick Gives Touching Performance

Ladies Encounter sponsored the “Truth of the Matter” on Oct. 5, at Faith Assembly of God in Roaring Spring.

Praise and Worship was led by Generations band.

The mission of Ladies Encounter is to impact the ladies of the community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The purpose is to present the Gospel message and to encourage unity in Christ.

Through this educational and thought-provoking performance, Gutschick’s goal was to reach across generations and touch lives. By the expressions on the faces of the women in the audience, she accomplished this goal.

Gutschick can portray 33 different women, but she focused on three at this performance.

First was Jezebel, a Phoenician princess in the ninth century who married Ahab, the Prince of Israel who became King. She worshiped the native God Baal. As she prepared herself to be murdered by General Jehu, she applied makeup and dressed in fine clothing before she was thrown over her balcony and eaten by dogs.

Second was Naamah, daughter of Lamech and sister of Tubal-Cain and was the wife of Noah. The hilarious performance told of the time before Noah built the Ark. Episodes on the ark included animal waste and what happened after it stopped raining.

Third is the unnamed wife of Pontius Pilate who intercedes with Pilate on Jesus’ behalf. This portrayal left the audience laughing as she discussed Jesus with a bunch of women in a group she was invited to join.

Hundreds of women attended this free event. CDs of three women of the Bible were available for purchase at a special price. Ladies Encounter items and tickets for Ladies and Teen Spring Events were available.

Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021 Ladies Encounter Group number 124960 will hold a fundraiser at Hoss’s in Duncansville and Bedford. Business cards can be downloaded from the website.

The group’s Boscov’s Fundraiser is on Oct. 20, 2021, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., in store only. Passes will be available in the lobby or by calling Joyce at (814) 224-5119.

The Pastor Appreciation Dinner will be held Monday, Nov. 1, 2021 at the U.S. Hotel in Hollidaysburg.

Ladies Spring Encounter will be Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Blair County Convention Center. Tickets are available by calling Doris at (814) 224-5443 or Joyce at (814) 224-5119.
