Church Celebrates 150

St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Williamsburg celebrated its 150th anniversary Sunday, Oct. 9, 150 years to the day the church was originally blessed and dedicated in 1861. On hand to help St. Joseph Parish celebrate its anniversary was the Rev. Mark Leonard Bartchak, who is the eighth Bishop of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown which the church operates under. This was his first visit to Williamsburg. St. Joseph’s Parish was first established in 1860 with the erection of a small church on Canal Street.
