Youth Sail as Cowboys

Gene Samuels, Donald Kauffman and David Slagenweit, young men of Martinsburg area, served as sea-going cowboys on ships carrying horses and cattle to Poland through Church World Service.

John Hoover greatly surprised his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Jason Hoover of Waterdside, and his wife, a student nurse at the Winber Hospital, by unexpectedly returning home from Manila in time to see his wife graduate.

Children and adults were invited to compete for cash prizes in the Mummers Parade in Martinsburg.

Benny A. Heuston, commander of the Raycamp Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, was appointed an extension officer on the staff of the Pennsylvania Department, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Martinsburg Milling Co. was building a new office at the mill. The present office was located in the section of the mill that was to be torn down to make way for construction of the new grain elevators.
