Local Farmer Wins Award for 50 Consecutive Years of Horse Breeding

Jana Quarter Horse Farm was honored with the American Quarter Horse Association's Legacy Award, which commemorates 50 years of consecutive breeding. The farm officially started breeding in 1963. With only one short hiatus, the farm has bred horses every year since 1970.

"Jana" is a combination of "Jack" and "Nancy." Jack and Nancy Ashman of Williamsburg have lived on their farm for 52 years.

The ceremony, which took place in Texas, was postponed due to COVID-19.

The farm received an award in 2015 for 50 years of cumulative breeding.
