Stand-Off With Police Ends With Gunfire, One Fatality

A Duncansville man is dead after a stand-off with police led to gunfire.

Jacob W. Curry, 47, was killed after Bedford State Police were called to a home on the 200 block of Burket Drive, Bloomfield Township, Bedford County, just after 4 p.m. on Oct. 17 for a welfare check on a male.

When police arrived, Curry barricaded himself inside the residence and begin shooting at troopers who had set up a perimeter around the house.

Police returned fire and struck Curry. Police report that life saving measures were performed but Curry was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
