Crawford Wins ACE Award

James Crawford of Sinking Valley won the Agricultural Community Excellence (ACE) Award during the Blair County Chamber of Commerce’s Farm-City Dinner held at the Morrisons Cove Memorial Park.

Work began on replacing the roof of the Spring Cove School District’s Martinsburg Elementary School. The total roof replacement was expected to cost $898,791 and be completed by mid-November. The new metal roof was expected to last 50 years.

Two CROP walks were held in the Morrisons Cove area, raising a total of $10,500 for the Church World Service Hunger programs and food banks in the Morrisons Cove Area. The Claysburg-East Freedom Ministerium sponsored a 5 mile walk from the Claysburg Church of the Brethren to the United Methodist Church in East Freedom. The Southern Cove Ministerium sponsored a 2-hour event at the track at Panther Community Stadium.
