Ebersole Arrested for Murder

James Ebersole was arrested and reportedly confessed to committing “one of the most dastardly crimes in the history of Bedford County. On Sunday evening Harry Kenneth Brandt, 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brandt, residing about three miles northwest of New Enterprise, was cruelly murdered and the body placed in an old abandoned well, at an isolated spot on the Brandt farm.” The body was found by Elmer Baker on Monday morning. The boy had not returned after leaving home to bring the cows from pasture. Ebersole had been married to the murder victim’s half-sister....
