Borough's 2022 Budget Proposed

Williamsburg Borough proposed its 2022 budget, and it was announced during Monday evening’s meeting. The budget consists of wage increases and normal operating expenses. There will be a millage increase, but the amount had not yet been determined. Paula Hamilton made the motion to advertise the budget. Bruce Hamilton seconded, and the motion passed.

Chief of Police Rowdy Kagarise said he would be taking the medication that was in the medicine bin in the borough office up to Logan Township Police this week. The bin is 1/3 of the way full, and Kagarise “appreciates all those who turned in” their prescription drugs. Kagarise praised the Williamsburg Lions Club, who recently had a medicine collection at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and collected over 20 lbs. of prescriptions.

Mayor Ted Hyle told the council of a trip to Millheim, where he, along with Chief of Police Kagarise and Borough Manager Joe Lansberry, toured a sewer plant that was run by solar power. Hyle said they are “still pursuing” talks with Penn State about improving Williamsburg, and that he is excited about it.

Hyle said meetings regarding the Lower Trail and stormwater systems in Williamsburg are to come.

There was an executive session during the meeting to discuss personnel.
