Shotgun Injures Student

Herald of Dec. 5, 1946

A Morrisons Cove High School student was seriously injured when a shotgun being unloaded by a fellow student accidentally discharged. Richard Wetzel, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Weitzel of Fredericksburg, was shot through both legs. A pumpkin ball penetrated the flesh of the right calf and shattered the bone of the left leg below the knee. The youth was a member of a hunting party searching for deer in the Barrens.

A fire broke out near Woodbury in the washhouse at the Clyde Sell home, located along the road from Woodbury to Ravers Gap. By the time firemen arrived, the building was about burned down, but they were in time to save the house, one corner of which had caught fire. The washhouse and butcher house were totally destroyed.

The RSHS Yellow Jackets football team ended the season with wins over Beaverdale, Replogle, Claysburg, Saxton-Liberty, Bigler Twp. and Williamsburg. They tied with Hollidaysburg, and lost to Bedford and Bellwood-Antis.
