Claysburg Bank Robbed

The Claysburg First National Bank was robbed of an unknown number of Liberty bonds and $100 in small change. The burglars used an acetylene torch to burn through the steel door of the outer vault, but were unable to open the door of the inner vault. Forty-nine safety deposit boxes were opened. State police arrested four young men from Johnstown for the robbery.
Professor C. A. Byers took a leave of absence from the vocational school for health reasons. He went to his parents’ home in Huntingdon, Ind. to rest in preparation for surgery.
