Barn a Total Loss in Fire

Martinsburg firemen were called to a large barn fire near Loysburg. Dean Hale, owner of the barn, was not home at the time, but a neighbor, William Pressel, saw the fire and was able to free the livestock. By the time firefighters arrived the barn was engulfed in flames, so they concentrated their efforts on nearby structures. The season’s harvest was lost in the fire.

An explosion at a home along Maple Street in Roaring Spring rocked neighbors the morning of Dec. 10. Blair S. Snowberger, 72, owner of the home, was switching the stove from one gas tank to another...
