Hesston
Edward L. Norris Sr., 78, of Hesston, passed on peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, at Embassy of Huntingdon Park after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 6, 1943, in Huntingdon, to the late Hiram J. and T. Mae (Dean) Norris. Feb. 5, 2005, he married Tammy J. Brenneman, who survives at home.
Ed was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by a son, Edward L. Norris Jr. of Lewistown; twin daughters: Jodi Peachey of Altoona and Jennifer (Joshua) Nunamaker of Roaring Spring; a stepson, Jacob Hess of Hesston; and a stepdaughter, Holly (Seth) Morrison of Huntingdon.
Ed was an exceptional, loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren: Taylor, Blake, Garrett, Hannah, Laura, Nathanael, Sawyer, Christian, Ryder, Holden, Hunter and Olivia. The greatest joys of his life were his grandchildren.
He is also survived by three brothers: DeWayne Norris and wife, Myla, Hesston, Larry Norris and wife, Kathy, Marklesburg, and Richard Norris and wife, Jean, Saxton; and a sister, Gloria Kay Norris, Huntingdon.
He will be sorely missed by all.
Ed was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County. He was a 1963 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School. He was employed for 36 years at Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, in the maintenance department, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed gardening and maintaining his orchard. He loved the great outdoors, including a lifetime of hunting and fishing in the Raystown Lake area, where he was raised. Ed was an avid bowler, where he was a member of several bowling leagues at Holiday Bowl in Mill Creek.
From 1964 to 1970, Ed was enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, serving as an artillery specialist E4, 1st Squadron in the 104th Armored Calvary Regiment.
Ed was a faithful Christian, who walked daily with the Lord. He was a member of the Community Chapel of Hesston.

A funeral was held Friday, Jan. 21, at the Community Chapel of Hesston. Rev. Scott Decker officiated. Interment was made in the White Church Cemetery, Hesston.
At Ed’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Community Chapel of Hesston, 5789 Orchard Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
