Phyllis Hite

Phyllis Hite, 83, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away Jan. 15, 2022.

She was born Nov. 1, 1938, in Claysburg, to the late Homer and Ruth Diehl. Phyllis married her late husband Richard in 1959.

She obtained her formal education and RN in nursing. She practiced nursing at Nason Hospital in Roaring Spring. After the birth of her son Douglas in 1963 the family relocated to Delaware.

She was a charter member of Skyline United Methodist Church. Her passions in life where her family, her faith, music, caring for others and travel. She played the piano her whole life including as accompanist for Skyline Church. She learned to play the flute in her retirement years. She loved to laugh and had a sarcastic sense of humor that kept you on your toes. In her later years she handled the adversities life dealt her with a grace and humor and strength to be admired. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son Douglas and his wife Theresa (Spangler) Hite of Rising Sun, Md.; nephew Larry Diehl of Homestead, Fla. and niece Gwen Ross of Magnolia, Texas. and many other relatives.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” Hite; her brother Don Diehl; sister Barbara (Diehl) Ross, sister Nancy (Diehl) Claycomb; nephew Chuck Ross and niece Mindy (Diehl) Cheadle.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring of 2022 at the Skyline United Methodist Church.
