Appleton Combats Pollution

Appleton Papers in Roaring Spring outlined the steps the company planned to take to combat air and water pollution. Appleton planned to spend $700,000 during 1971 and 1972 for air control improvement in Roaring Spring.

The groundhog saw his shadow on Feb. 2, foretelling six more weeks of winter. The Herald noted that winter had barely just arrived, with an unusually warm January and the first snowfall of the season occurring only a few days before Groundhog Day.
