Ingrid Metzler

Chambersburg

Ingrid Metzler, 87, of Chambersburg, was welcomed to her eternal home in Heaven with Jesus Wednesday evening, Feb. 2, 2022.

She was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Nuremberg, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Fritz Sonnekalb and Ellen Sonnekalb Hafner Keller. She and her husband of 66 years, Richard L. Metzler, met as students at Goshen College in Goshen, Ind.

In addition to her husband, Ingrid is survived by three sons: Steven L. Metzler (Donna) of Fredericksburg, Va., Stuart L. Metzler of Canonsburg, and F. Peter Metzler (Kellie) of Gibsonia; and four grandchildren, Lukas R. Metzler, Stephanie L. Metzler, Chase T. Metzler, and Elsie N. Metzler.

Aside from her parents, Ingrid was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Tina Metzler.

Ingrid spent most of her life making a home for her family. Early in her life she was employed as a laboratory technician at Miles Laboratory in Elkhart, Ind. Ingrid was a member of Chambersburg Mennonite Church where she volunteered in many capacities. She loved her Lord Jesus and lived her faith every day. She had an avid interest in bible prophecy which she researched and studied extensively. She also greatly enjoyed completing her daily crossword puzzles that she found in the Chambersburg newspaper.

A Celebration of Life to honor Ingrid will be held at a later date.

Private interment will be in Chambersburg Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
