One Step Too Far By Lisa Gardner

February 17, 2022

Timothy O’Day and his four best friends travel to the Wyoming wilderness to mark the end of his bachelorhood. Two days later, his friends return to Ramsey worn out, disoriented and in shock. They tell a disjointed tale, not sure of what happened in the night after a day and evening of joking, drinking, and reminiscing.

Five years later, Martin O’Day organizes one last search party in hopes of bringing some answers to his dying wife about the disappearance of their son.

Frankie Elkin is on a personal mission to solve missing person cold cases. She has no formal training; she is neither a private investigator nor a detective. She is simply a woman with an unhappy past. After years of alcoholism, loss, and tragedy, she has spent the last ten years trying to find a purpose for her life. She has discovered she has an uncanny knack for unraveling details that are overlooked by others. Frankie finds missing person cases online, and when one catches her attention, she travels to the locale to see what she can uncover. In her ten years of wandering, she has helped bring closure to fourteen cases that others had left as hopeless. Sadly, in only one of those cases was a loved one recovered alive.

The O’Day case has caught her eye, but not only because of the mother who wants answers to her son’s disappearance. Elkin’s research shows that six other people have gone missing in the same area on the edge of the Shoshone National Forrest.

As Frankie joins a search team made up of Martin, the four groomsmen, a local guide and a Sasquatch hunter, details long hidden by the men provide a different picture of that fateful weekend. It also quickly becomes obvious that someone is hunting them to keep hidden their deadly secrets.

Lisa Gardner again weaves a tale that you will not want to put down.
