Central Wins Championship

The Central High School’s boys basketball team, coached by Don Appleman, won its first Mountain League championship by defeating Huntingdon 50-44 in a one-game playoff at Tyrone. Central joined the Mountain League in 1961.

John Edward Dick, 52 of Roaring Spring RD 1, was killed at the New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company plant near Roaring Spring when he slipped and fell under the rear wheels of a truck.
