Martinsburg
Margaret G. (Garson) Nuss, 74, of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022, at The Village at Morrisons Cove in Martinsburg, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
She was born Oct. 8, 1947, in Williamsport, the daughter of William Huntley Garson and Jeanne Garson. In 2001 she married Paul Nuss Sr.
In addition to her husband Paul, she is survived by her two sons’ father, Robert Sloaf, of Punxsutawney; two sons: Jason Sloaf of Livingston, Mont. and Andrew Sloaf of Olympia, Wash .; six grandchildren: Emily Sloaf, Molly Sloaf, Madeline Sloaf all of Pittsburgh, and Torin Sloaf, Daisy Sloaf, and Lila Jeanne Sloaf of Olympia, Wash .; as well as brothers: William H. Garson Jr. of Olympia, Wash. and Thomas Garson of Ashland, Ore .; and Paul’s children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother; and sister, Jeanne.
Margaret graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1965 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1969. She retired from Homewood at Martinsburg as Director of Marketing for Independent Living.
She was a gourmet cook, and loved the flower gardens at her home. She also loved traveling with her husband, Paul; in their airplane, on their motorcycle, with the RV trailer, and cruising in their street rod.
Margaret lived in Punxsutawney for many years, and kept close contact with her friends there, especially her friends from their card club. She also became close friends with many residents of Homewood.
A memorial service honoring the life of Margaret will be announced at a future date.
