The Saxton Manufacturing Company broke ground for a new building to house a shirt factory branch of a New York industry. The building was located near the railroad shops in Saxton, and it was expected to provide hundreds of jobs.

The D. M. Bare Paper Mill in Roaring Spring was planning an expansion project that would cost approximately $750,000. The project, expected to take three years to complete, was meant to modernize the plant and included a plan for a new boiler.

Andrew S. Hoover, 83, a native of North Woodbury Township, died at the Morrisons Cove Home for the Aged where he had resided for six years. Mr. Hoover never married and was the last of his immediate family. At his funeral service in the chapel of the Home, Rev. Hanawalt emphasized the fact that the divine spirit in the righteous never grows old, and declared the life of the deceased was his best eulogy.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry S. Oesterle and son Sheldon arrived home from Florida where they had spent the winter months.
