Holsinger's Fly Shop Special Guests at Faith Assembly of God Men's Ministry

Faith Assembly of God Men’s Ministry enjoyed their Mid-Winter Feast at the church on “two’s day” (02-22-22). The feast is an annual church event where the ministry provides the meal and dessert while others contribute what they can. This time of food and fellowship is designed to break up winter time while giving hope of spring is in the air.

The men were blessed to have Ron Holsinger and his son Shawn of Holsinger’s Fly Shop, East Freedom, join and participate with the evening festivities.

Shawn and his family reside in East Freedom, where he serves as head Pro-Staffer and fly tier in his family business, Holsinger’s Fly Shop (www.holsingersflyshop.com). Shawn produces a popular YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/user/holsingersflyshop) with over 400 instructional videos that 1.6 million viewers receive fly tying techniques and patterns. Other videos show Shawn on various fishing trips while providing valuable information to make an angler more successful.

In addition to the fly shop responsibilities, Shawn operates Holsinger’s Guide Service. At the age of 12, he began fly fishing and tying flies. After learning to swing wet flies, drift dry flies, streamers, nymphs, Shawn became a well-rounded fly fisherman. He has been on the waters with some competitive fly fishermen which drew his interest into Euro-nymphing. Shaw has fished the tributaries of the Great Lakes, Alaska, Florida, Yellowstone, and other Western waters. Although Shawn frequents the limestone trout streams of Southcentral Pennsylvania, he does guide steelhead trips on the Erie tributaries.

Because of his passion for the sport along with the desire to serve the Lord, Shawn has been given the unique opportunity to share the talents and opportunities.

The men attending were treated to learning how to read a stream, life cycle of insects, care of equipment and hearing inspirational passages from God’s Word that touch the men to be better in serving God and others. Shawn left with Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpens Iron,” illustrating that we need each other.

The Men’s Ministry also provided numerous gifts through the drawing of tickets.

Future Men Ministry events will be a breakfast, bicycle ride on Lower Trail, trap Shooting, camping and others.
