Bringing Art to Life

It’s not often where one gets to turn one of their life-long hobbies into their careers, but this is what Williamsburg-native Holly Hamilton is trying to do.

Hamilton has always had a love of art and the Williamsburg School District honed her abilities.

“It’s where I first learned to draw,” Hamilton said.

She continued her passion at the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center, and then to York, where she achieved her Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design.

Most notably, some of Holly H Designs can be found on the Williamsburg, PA Small Businesses and Business Opportunities Group Facebook page. Hamilton enjoys drawing many subjects, but her favorite focus is mythological creatures and animals. Two of her most popular subjects are her unicorn character Miss Marshmallow and cartoon character Cuddles.

Hamilton credits her former teacher at the Art Institute of York, Tom Notarangelo, as one of her “most inspirational teachers.”

Hamilton hopes to soon kickoff a business and is in the process of a publishing company printing her books. With her designs, she can do coloring books, totes, backpacks, apparel and pins.

In her free time, Hamilton works hard on the Williamsburg, PA Small Businesses and Business Opportunities Group, which is something that she takes a lot of pride in.

“I founded this group after noticing that a lot of small businesses were not able to advertise in town or were being discouraged by the bigger groups,” said Hamilton. “My business was among these. I got tired of people saying these hobby businesses weren’t welcome – so I made the group on the basis where people would be welcome to share their products. I believe that’s where some major businesses in Williamsburg first started to advertise.”

For her business goals, she would like to get to 10,000 followers on her Facebook page by the end of the year and increase sales to make the artwork and career sustainable.
