Bye Bye Baby By Robert B. Parker & Ace Atkins

Bye Bye Baby is a gripping story with issues taken straight out of today’s headlines. Spenser, a Boston PI, along with his close associate, Hawk, is hired to provide security for Congresswoman Carolina Garcia-Ramirez.

Congresswoman Garcia- Ramirez is in a tight primary and is receiving death threats in response to her progressive and liberal agenda centering on race, poverty, health care and the environment. After her campaign office is broken into, the Congresswoman’s Chief of Staff Kyle Rosen hires Spenser to protect her. It is up to Spenser to convince the Congresswoman of the danger she is in.

Spenser and Hawk uncover a white supremacy group called “The Minutemen” run by a man named Bishop Graves. The action heats up when the FBI become involved and the Boston Special Agent in charge Bobby Nguyen tries to force Spenser off the case.

As usual, Spenser, with Hawk watching his back, gets into his typical number of violent confrontations on his way to achieving justice and upholding his personal code of honor. You find the familiar characters we have grown to love in the “Spenser” series also added to this story. Susan Silverman, Spenser’s long time significant other and Zebulon Sixkill “Z,” a Cree Warrior and young man that both Susan and Spenser have helped along the way, both make appearances.

This is the 50th book in the “Spenser” series, written originally by Robert B. Parker. Parker died in 2020, and the author Ace Atkins continued the series. Although this is Atkin’s last installment, it is by no means missing any of the many surprises in true classic “Spenser.” This has proven to be an enjoyable read for the fans of this series, which will continue with author Mike Lupica taking over.
