Lady Dragon Softball Overwhelms Opponents

Central softball faced two new opponents and came out on top in two amazing victories this past week. The Lady Dragons faced the Penn Cambria Lady Panthers, and won 10-0, and then faced the Bedford Lady Bisons, defeating them with a score of 20-3.

The Lady Dragons kept the Lady Panthers from scoring the entire game. In the first inning, Central brought in four runs, then another in the second. In the fourth inning, the Lady Dragons brought in four more runs, and another in the sixth that sealed their victory.  Lacey Lynn threw a no hitter and struck out 14. Lynn had two hits including a three-run triple. Maya Hazenstab added two hits and scored three runs for the Lady Dragons. Bralyn Ellis and Madison Daugherty each had two RBIs for the Lady Dragons. Coach Burket said, "This was a great team win that was highlighted by an outstanding pitching performance by Lacey Lynn."

The Lady Dragons started the game against the Lady Bisons with two runs in the first inning, and then five in the second. In the fourth inning, they brought in two runs, then four in the fifth, and an amazing seven runs in the sixth inning alone. The Lady Dragons exploded for 22 hits throughout the game. Seven dragon batters had multiple hits. The game was highlighted by a triple play turned by the Lady Dragon defense. Coach Burket said, "It's not often that you see a team turn a triple play. Our defense played solid today, the girls hit well, and overall, it was a great team victory."

This victory now leaves the Lady Dragons with a record of 3-0. They will play the Central Cambria Lady Red Devils, the Bishop Guilfoyle Lady Marauders, and the Johnstown Lady Trojans in their upcoming week.
