Bassler Bell to be Moved

Mr. and Mrs. John Hite of Martinsburg were planning an all-alumni project to move the M. Z. Bassler Bell, located atop “Bean Hill” near Central High School, to the front lawn of Central High School. The bell was dedicated August 24, 1918 in memory of M. Z. Bassler, editor of the Martinsburg Herald. The bell was originally a gift from Bassler for the proposed Morrison Cove College.

Dr. Thomas Fenstermacher was hired as the new superintendent for the Spring Cove School District at a salary of $21,500. He was a native of Cambria County.
