On April 5, the South Woodbury Township Board of Supervisors met for their monthly meeting at 9 a.m.
The monthly bills and treasurer report were reviewed and approved by supervisors.
A liquid fuel payment was received and was less than expected. The amount of $98,646 was received on March 2.
The roadmaster report was given by Rick Musselman. Cinders were applied. Trees had to be cut.
Bids were opened for the 2022 Golden Rule Drive Culvert Replacement Project. Five bids were opened, and it was awarded to the lowest bidder. The bid went for $363,557. This is not expected to be completed until 2023. Representatives from each of the bids were present.
The Sewer Management Program gave a report. There were 12 inspections and one repair.
The Southern Cove Volunteer Fire Company had requested an ordinance to allow the fire company to charge and recoup the costs of certain emergency rescue services and equipment. The supervisors have gotten further information on other townships. Some have this and some do not. At this time, no action will be taken.
Secretary White had been asked to get more information on Southern Cove EMS 2021 Financial Report for clarification. This was obtained and approved by the supervisors, and the Spring Allotment of $2,500 will be released to EMS.
A thank-you letter was read from Camp Cadet for money they received in support of their program. Bedford County Library, Bedford County Historical Society, Bedford County Fire and Your Safe Haven also received donations.
A meeting was held with Northern Bedford County School District to discuss and review if they are using any oil or grease that may be going into the sewage. There has been a problem of grease accumulation and supervisors are trying to reduce this amount and see what can be done if it is coming in from a business. The school water did not seem to be a contributing factor.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 3, at 9 a.m.
