William Ray Lee Sr., 77, of Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 5, 2022, at his home.

He was born March 5, 1945, in Ganister, rural Williamsburg, son of the late Harry Ray and Hannah Elizabeth (Loose) Lee. On January 4, 1963 he married Violet P. Cartwright in Frederick, Md.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years; two daughters: Tammy L. Shultz and Pamela J. Dopp (Andrew); two sons: William R. Lee Jr. (Lisa) and Robert E. Lee (Carrie) all of Williamsburg; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; a brother, Terry B. Lee (Janet); and three sisters: Charlene Dixon (Richard); Isobel Brown-Stiver (Ray) and Arlene Frederick (Robert).

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandi J. Tomasiello; a son-in-law, Jack R. Shultz; three brothers: infant Frances, Charles R. “Dukey” Lee and David E. Lee; and two sisters: Jeannette E. Aurandt and Mary “Eva Louise” Bookhammer.

Bill attended school in Williamsburg and later earned his GED. He was a United States Army veteran serving from 1962 until 1967, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

He worked over the years for the Blair County Children’s Home, Williamsburg, Pennsylvania State Hospital, Duncansville and also as a custodian for the Williamsburg School District. Bill retired after 20 years as the owner and operator of Bill’s Billiards, located in Williamsburg.

Bill was a member of Hollidaysburg Masonic Lodge #220 F&AM, Heidelberg Country Club, Altoona, Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg and the former Williamsburg Memorial VFW Post 6086.

He loved Sunday dinners with his family, a good cigarette and a good conversation. Bill also enjoyed camping, singing and playing his guitar and harmonica.

A funeral with military honors, was held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, (www.bolgerfuneralhome.com). Mr. David Cadle officiated.
