Dragon Softball Sweeps Adversaries

The Lady Dragons had four games this past week and were victorious in every one. The Lady Dragons defeated the Westmont Hilltop Lady Hilltoppers 1-0, the Somerset Lady Eagles 17-0, the Chestnut Ridge Lady Lions 5-2, and the Bishop McCort Lady Crushers 13-3.

In the game against the Lady Hilltoppers, there was no score up until the fifth inning where the Lady Dragons' Bralyn Ellis scored their one and only run. Lacey Lynn threw a complete game, two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts and no walks.

Against Somerset, the Lady Dragons kept the game to three short innings. After bringing in four runs in the first inning, five in the second, and eight in the third, the game was an easy victory for the Lady Dragons. The Lady Dragons exploded for 15 hits in the game. Taylor Stock led the attack with three doubles, four RBIs, and two runs scored. Ellis had three hits including a triple and scored three runs. Coach Burket said, "We were able to keep the momentum going tonight. Tomorrow we will face a tough test against Chestnut Ridge."

The Lady Dragons took control in the game against Chestnut Ridge in the third inning by scoring three runs. Another run in both the fourth and fifth innings guaranteed a Dragon victory. Maya Hazenstab and Lynn led the Lady Dragons to their victory. Hazenstab had a two-run home run that gave the Lady Dragons the lead in the third inning. She also had an RBI double in the fifth. Lynn pitched a complete game and had nine strikeouts while adding a triple on the offensive. Ashlyn Renner and Ellis each contributed two hits for the Lady Dragons as well.

In their final game of the week against the Lady Crushers, the Lady Dragons took a strong start in the first inning by scoring five runs followed by three more runs in the second. Another two runs in the fourth as well as three more in the sixth secured a Lady Dragon victory. Madison Kennedy picked up the pitching victory, striking out 10, and scattering three hits over the course of the game. Hazenstab, Lynn, and Ellis all had multiple hits for the Dragons as well. Ellis had two doubles and three RBIs, while Hazenstab scored four runs. Stock also had a double in the game.

These victories bring the Lady Dragon's record to 10-1 on the season. In the upcoming week, the Lady Dragons will face the Bishop Carroll Lady Huskies, as well as the Bedford Lady Bisons.
