Panthers Leave a Mark at Curve Classic

This week in NBC Panther baseball, the team won one game and lost three games.

To begin the week, the Panthers lost both ends of a doubleheader to Southern Huntingdon. The first game was by a score of 10-2, and the second game was by a score of 13-4. Overall, the Panthers had 14 errors across the two games.

However, the Panthers turned things around on Friday in the Curve Classic. They played Fannett-Metal and beat them by a score of 7-3. Freshman Reese Musselman threw a gem in this one, finishing a complete game on just 86 pitches. He threw a no-hitter for the first four innings. Two base runners did reach on errors, but both were stranded.

In the fifth inning, Fannett-Metal started to come alive and scored three runs, but Musselman and the Panther defense shut the door in the sixth and seventh, only allowing and stranding one base runner in those innings.

The Panther offense came alive in the top of the seventh inning to earn a few insurance runs. Sophomore Eion Snider led off the inning with a triple, which sparked a fire in the Panther's offense and allowed them to eventually score three more runs.

The following day, NBC lost a tough fight to top-seeded Central in the semifinals of the Curve Classic. They lost to the eventual champion of the Classic by a score of 13-1 in five innings.

Up next for the Panthers is a home showdown with Tussey on Monday afternoon and then an away conference game at Everett on Thursday afternoon.
