Joyce Bassler, chair for the Ladies Encounter, and her executive committee, comprised of Sharon Herr, Patricia David, Doris Miller, Karen Weaver and Linda Furry, did an outstanding job on the program entitled “Getting Good at Being You.” Many others were involved in hosting a table with favors and doing many other jobs.
This was held at the Convention Center in Altoona on April 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 300 women attended this inspirational encounter. Due to COVID, this program had to be canceled two times, even after money was spent on mailing out programs.
Gwen Smith opened the morning session with a song and praise and worship session. The audience participated by singing praise songs and fun exercises.
Mary Southerland gave the morning message. Southerland and Smith are part of the Girlfriends in God Group.
Lunch was served by the Convention Center and was a delicious chicken salad and carrot cake for dessert.
The afternoon session was more Praise and Worship and a small concert by Smith. The message was by Southerland and Smith.
There were product tables available with books, CDs and jewelry.
