Total Loss Due to Ice

Snow, ice and below freezing temperatures were to blame for what was being called “a total loss” by some fruit growers in the Cove. The large peach orchard at Ore Hill owned by Charles Packard was reported to be totally frozen, and a nearby apple orchard sustained losses around 80%. Some areas were harder hit than others.
