Last week, we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. Teachers don’t get celebrated enough or thanked enough.
A lot of teachers can really influence a young person’s life and leave a lasting imprint on whom a student become sas a person.
This thought inspiried this week’s question – Which teacher made the biggest impact on your life?
Here is what a few residents had to say:
Blair Saylor: Mr. Cramer
Randilyn Peck: Mrs. Houtz (Natalie Appleman)
John Jones: Miss Miller
Linda Lemin: Mr. Ron Leidy, and Mr. Cowher – they were my favorites.
Anna Gibboney: For me, it is a tie between my 5th grade teacher – Mr. Clouse, and my 6th grade teacher – Mr. Miller. Between the two of them, they made me like school.
Vic Clow: Mr. Clapper
Amanda Luzier: Mr. Thaddeus White – more than he realizes. Try your best and you still won’t get everything 100 percent right. He would grade 99 percent, but not 100 percent. Honest to goodness – life lesson there.
Bonnie Hammond: My favorite teacher is my daughter, Jessica. She is an amazing, caring, loving and empathetic woman. She always puts her students above anything else. She has taught me so much about how important a good education is in this world. If I’d only known that when I was in school, I know I would have tried a lot harder. I love you, Jessica – I am so proud of who you are!
Marge Troxell: Mr. Gutshall – I was intimidated by him in junior high, but in senior high, I respected him and we had so much fun in his class.
Bonnie Good: Bill Rhodes and Fritz Edminston
Larry Burger: Mrs. Biddle in elementary and Coach Campbell and Mrs. Hall in high school. Each one had you strive to do your best in their own way.
Bailey Detwiler: Mrs. Meadows – she pushes me to be the best student I can be and always puts her kids in her class above herself.
Ryan Deeters: Mr. Ashman and Mr. Lewis
Natalie: For me, I have been blessed with amazing teachers. The one that stands out for me is Mr. Kelly Over, the social studies teacher at Williamsburg High School. He really motivated me to write good essays and the importance of a good title when writing. It is a negative that he has such poor taste in football, but that can be overlooked.
