Williamsburg was planning a celebration to honor and remember SPC. Chad Allen Edmundson, who was killed while on military duty in Iraq four years earlier.

The Morrisons Cove Park kicked off the summer season with the 17th Annual Triathlon. The event, which combined swimming, running and biking was held in partnership with the park and Garver Memorial YMCA.

The Northern Bedford Girls track and field team won two league titles and had an undefeated season. They won their first District 5 team championship since 1999 with Maria Snyder and Leah Hersberger leading the way.

4-H members from Blair, Bedford, Huntingdon and Mifflin counties attended the inaugural A. B. Ross Leadership Program at Penn State’s Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center. The program, sponsored by state Sen. John Eichelberger, was designed to teach the students to develop a Nutrient Management Plan.
