Collision Leads to Fatality

Two junior girls from Tussey Mountain High School died in a two-car collision in heavy fog on Rt. 26 near the Happy Hollow Inn. The girls, Bonnie Giles, 16, of Aitch and Karen Sue Russell, 16, of Cherrytown were on their way to school when their 1970 Chevelle collided with a station wagon.

Marlon Zook of Central High School’s track team won first place in District 6 400-yard dash competition. The win earned him a spot in the state competition.

Appleton Papers held first place in the Southern Blair Slow Pitch Softball League. They defeated teams from Williamsburg and Hersberger Chevy-Olds the previous week.

Greg Michelone and Marie Walason were named King and Queen of the Williamsburg High School prom held in the high school gymnasium. The theme was “The Age of Aquarius”. Live music was provided by the band “Wicked Truth” from Altoona.
