Panthers End the Week with Big Win

The Panthers baseball team went 2-1 this week, beating Claysburg, losing at McConnellsburg, and beating Forbes Road. This moves their overall record to 7-9 on the year.

To begin the week, the Panthers held on to beat Claysburg at home by a score of 7-6. They took an early 6-2 lead after two innings, but didn’t take chances they were given to put the game away. In the top of the fourth inning, Claysburg rallied for four runs to make it a tie game at six. However, the Panthers scored one in the bottom of the inning, thanks to a Brooks Snider sac fly. That was all the insurance the Panthers would need, as they would hold the Bulldogs through the last three innings to earn the 7-6 victory.

For NBC, Jake Bowser threw a complete game gem, only allowing one earned run on six hits, three strikeouts, and two walks. On the offensive side, Eion Snider and Aaron Bowers had multiple hits. Eion Snider also led the Panthers with 3 RBIs.

Later in the week, the Panthers dropped a game at McConnellsburg by a score of 15-5. The Panthers went down early, battled back to tie the game at five in the top of the fifth inning, and then the Spartans ran from there to put the game away.

Finally, to end the week, the Panthers routed Forbes Road by a score of 18-1. For NBC, Brooks Snider, Eion Snider, Reece Musselman, Noah Kochara, Junnosuke Okada, and Ben Gable all had multiple hits. Eion Snider, Noah Kochara, and Ben Gable all led the Panthers with 3 RBIs each.

Next week, NBC hosts Everett on Monday afternoon and Juniata Valley on Tuesday afternoon. These two matchups will determine the Panthers’ seed in the upcoming District 5 playoffs.
