At the end of an undefeated season, the Central Dragon Baseball team are the champions of the Laurel Highlands Conference. An 8-5 victory over the Forest Hills Rangers ended the undefeated season for the Dragons. Then, the Dragons started strong in the playoffs with a 15-0 victory over the Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers.
Against the Rangers, the Dragons came out with a strong start with three runs in the first inning. Four more in the fifth and another in the sixth secured the undefeated finish for the Dragons. Jake Detwiler picked up the pitching win, striking out three. Griffin Snowberger led the offense with three hits, while Hunter Smith, Ty Helsel, and Jonah Snowberger all had two RBIs with Jeff Hoenstine adding a double and two runs scored.
Starting the playoffs against the Hilltoppers, the Dragons scored 12 in the second inning in route to a 15-0, four inning victory. Jonah Snowberger got the win on the mound with three shutout innings, while working out of a second inning, bases loaded jam. Helsel and Parker Gregg each had two hits to lead the Central offense, while Jonah Snowberger and Paxton Kling each had two RBIs.
The Dragons take on Bald Eagle for their next playoff match. With a win, the Dragons advance to the 3A District final Saturday at the PNG Field with time to be announced.
