Veterans Honored

Veterans of World War I and World War II were honored at services across the Cove. Burgess C. Guy Barley, president of the Martinsburg Memorial Day Association, announced that $177 was collected on Memorial Day.

A fire destroyed a modern dairy barn on the C. Oren Whetstone farm northeast of the airport in Martinsburg. Loss was estimated at between $8,000 and $10,000. The majority of loss was in hay, feed and equipment.

The Martinsburg Daily Vacation Bible School reported a total enrollment of 190 pupils. The highest enrollment was in the primary department at 75.
