W-burg Falls Just Short of Championship Title

Williamsburg fell just short of their goal on Saturday in the PIAA Class 1A championship game, losing to Bishop McCort 7-4, in a game that was much closer than the scoreboard indicates.

Williamsburg walked into PNG field as improbable underdogs. The Blue Pirates, who ended the regular season under .500, beat Harmony Area High School to advance to the semi-finals.

Williamsburg then defeated heavily favored Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy in comeback fashion. The Blue Pirates got the game-tying run in the 7th to force extras. They scored again in the 8th inning to take a 6-5 lead that they...
