Dillings Celebrate 70 Years of Marriage

Dale C. and Doris E. (Black) Dilling of Raystown Road, Hopewell, will observe 70 years of marriage on Friday, June 10, 2022. Mr. and Mrs. Dilling were united in marriage on June 10, 1952, by Dale's father in the home of Reverend E. Paul and Ethel Dilling, his parents. The couple has resided in that same home since 1965.

The couple has four children: Duane married to Trudy Rhodes of New Enterprise; Diane married to Darrell Clapper of Martinsburg; Deana of Canton, Georgia; and Deron married to Bonnie Fisher of Hopewell. They have 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Dilling was a rural letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 38 years. He also drove school bus and operated his own auto body shop. Mrs. Dilling has been a homemaker since having children.

Traveling has been an interest the couple has shared while raising their family. They have visited 49 of the 50 states with all their children. Their favorite destinations are Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks.

Mrs. Dilling has created a variety of needle work projects including fashioning clothing for her children but has more extensively cross-stitched many detailed wall hangings. Mr. Dilling has used his own interest in woodworking to assist his wife with these creations by constructing complimentary wooden frames.
