Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company Holds Engine 70 'Push In' Ceremony

In December of 2020, the Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company had their main engine fail beyond repairs. No fire company can be without their main engine with disasters always a concern in the community. Immediately a fundraising effort was started, but with a 12-15 month production lead time, local fire members were concerned on how to fill the void. Fortunately the Alum Bank Fire Company came through with a loaner truck for the Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company #70. That loaner has been used for the past 15 months.

Cost for a new truck was approximately $360,000. Fundraising efforts with businesses and local members of the community began. Everyone realized that their property was at risk without a new truck.

The new truck engine officially arrived in Claysburg on May 28, 2022. The crew has prepped, stocked, and trained our members on the operations of the engine. Today #70 Fire Station. Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company officially put this truck into service, and they wanted the Claysburg community to be alongside them when this new apparatus was put into service. Without the support of the community, this truck would not be here.

The event called a "Push In" was held after a talk by Fire Chief Scott Eicher. After thanking Alum Bank for their use of the truck and support of other surrounding fire companies, he thanked the community for their efforts in fundraising and donations. The event was open to the public with many supporters and community members attending. They hosted an Open House. They had members available to tour our trucks/facility, answer any questions, and Liz Hoffman had a fire prevention table setup to talk to the kids.

There was a great spread of food available, and at 6:30 p.m. the new truck was officially "Pushed In" to service by its members. A big thanks of appreciation for all who made it successful.
