Spring Dam to See Upgrades this Summer

The Spring Dam Fountain upgrade project is almost complete. The town and Blank Book CEO Dan Hoover are looking to get the fountain back to its old glory.

“I feel obligated to maintain the fountain,” Hoover said, “I have owned the property with other people for a long time now.”

The fountain is out of commission right now as they continue to work on it. According to Hoover, as he looked out to the retention pond toward the vacant hole where the water normally spouts out, they are adding new pumps and light fixtures.

“We just want to get it back to what it was when it was first built.” Hoover said.

He and the other people who have historically owned the property with him want the fountain to be back up and running smoothly with the new pump system.

He also emphasized that the light fixtures they are adding will be LED lights and will help the fountain change colors and look newer.

“We do maintenance regularly,” Hoover said. “It’s not normal to have boats out there on a regular basis, but when doing a project like this we have to. “We always use the boat when working on the fountain… it’s the only way to get out there.”

Hoover said they go out there to power wash the fountain and “get out the crud.”

As for when people should expect the fountain to be operational, and when the upgrade should be done Hoover said, “We are getting the new pump system next week. That should be the last piece.”

Hoover and the other property owners have been using third party contractors and will continue to oversee the upgrade and make sure everything runs smoothly.

The Spring Dam fountain has been in commission since 1931.

With the upgrade, and the occasional maintenance, Hoover hopes the residents of Roaring Springs will continue to enjoy the fountain for many years to come.
