Retired Minister Dies

Rev. Dr. Edmund J. Gwynn, a retired Presbyterian minister, died at the age of 65. He was best known in this area for raising funds to build a large brownstone building to be used as a college. He abandoned his plans due to lack of funds and Prof. Edward Byers took over the building that became the Morrisons Cove Vocational school.

Harry Slep, founder of the Altoona Mirror and president of the Mirror Printing Company, passed away at his residence at 1015 Howard Avenue, Altoona. He was 85 years old at his passing and was a native of Hesse Cassel, Germany.

The Henrietta and Baker’s Summit baseball teams crossed bats at Baker’s Summit. They had an excellent game and the score was 3-4 in favor of Henrietta.

Rev. Tobias Henry filled the pulpit at the Koontz church. There was a good attendance.

Miss Verna Leidy, who has been in training at the Nason Hospital, is home on her vacation.
