Bedford Author Publishes Second Book

Franklin Lamca is a local author now living in Bedford County but grew up in Blair County. He has just had his second book published entitled “The Devil Hound: In Search of Family.”

This is a sequel to his first book called “Gypsies and the Blood Hound,” which he wrote from the years 2005-2012.

Lamca loved to tell stories as a child. His mind was always busy coming up with new ideas and they came easy to him. His inspiration for his first book came as he was on an international mission in Germany.

Lamca felt guilty when he saw firsthand the children attending grade school and half of the children were Jewish. He had compassion, but he was not sure why he was called to do mission work and what he would be doing.

His superior told him to figure out what he wanted to do. Lamca noticed puppets were a big part of the German culture. He bought three or four and cut the rods out of them, designed costumes and bought sculpted heads. Next, he built a stage and bought a trailer.

There were German festivals everywhere and he decided to put on a show with his puppets and do Noah’s Ark, David and Goliath and Daniel in the Lions Den. Lamca wrote the script and added music. His overwhelming direction from the Holy Spirit made him realize this is what he should do.

His current book “The Devil Hound: In Search of Family” is a book about good and evil. Also, it deals with abuse of power and authority. Lamca states it parallels his own life with some of the protagonists. Plight of minority such as Romani Jews and religious intolerance is another factor, as is their hope of a brighter future that the new world promised. The book has a historical perspective including local areas of Blair, Bedford and Huntingdon counties.

Signed copies of the book are currently available at A Touch of Serendipity in Bedford.

Lamca is working on his next book but is also busy with his marionette plays. He does this for senior centers, nursing homes, vacation Bible schools and Sunday schools. His assistant currently is David Gresh from Bedford.

This very exciting book keeps the reader’s attention and makes them realize how unfair life can be for some people. You will not want to put this book down until you finish it.
