Lauretta Beryle McClelland, 83, of Roaring Spring, formerly of East Freedom, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022, at UPMC Altoona after an extended illness.

She was born June 9, 1939, in Roaring Spring the daughter of the late Paul Baker and Mary Elizabeth (States) McCreary. She married Granton E. McClelland July 8, 1960, in Punxsutawney.

She is survived by her husband; three daughters, VeeAnn Schmidt and husband Ronald of Albany, Ind., Pamela Dennis and husband Donald of Roaring Spring, and Dana James and husband Timothy of East Freedom; four grandchildren, Mary Ardene Carter, Hailee Rebekah Lang (James), Amanda Elizabeth Dennis (Jourdan Miller), and Paige Nicole Baird (Jonathan) and two great grandchildren, Madalyn and Raelynne.

Beryle was of the Methodist faith. She was a 1957 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a 1960 graduate of the Altoona School of Nursing. She retired from the Altoona Hospital in 1990 after 30 years of nursing service.

She enjoyed camping, knitting, Nascar, especially Jeff Gordan, and going to the beach. She was a member of the Altoona School of Nursing Alumni Association and the Bavarian Aid Society.

A funeral was held Friday, June 17, 2022 at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring (www.thompsonfh.com). Thomas Welling officiated. The Central PA Nurses Honor Guard also took part in the ceremony. Interment was made in Alto-Reste Park.

Contributions in Beryle’s memory may be given to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation.
