School Board Adopts Budget

During their June meeting on June 14, the Williamsburg Community School District adopted their 2022-23 General Budget. The budget reflects a .2 millage tax increase and has revenues in the amount of $8,099,205 and expenditures in the amount of $8,606,867. The school board also recommended that $1.6 million of the fund balance be committed for future anticipated PSERS retirement costs.

The school board recommended that Beard Legal Group P.C. be reappointed as the school district solicitor at $165 per hour. Dr. Jonathan Zimmerman was reappointed as the school district dentist at a rate of $3 per exam. Dr. McLellan of Williamsburg Family Practice was reappointed as the school district physician.

Staff salaries for 2022-23 were placed on file as part of the official minutes reflecting a 3 percent increase for the school year. The board also approved the Act 93 Administrative Compensation Plan for elementary principal and secondary principal Jennifer Metzler and Jennifer Frederick, respectively reflecting pay increases of 3 percent each year beginning July 2022 through June 2025.

Following questions from residents with regard to the property boundaries at the elementary school and football field, the School Board approved a Land Survey proposal from Keller Engineers in the amount of $4,980 to survey the boundaries.

The board also approved a $600 donation to the Williamsburg Public Library.

Kindergarten orientation will be held on Aug. 11 and the board approved a field trip request to ride the school bus during orientation. Kayla Detwiler submitted her band-front advisor resignation letter and it was approved during meeting.
