Sweet Corn Comes in Early

Local sweet corn crops were early this year due to the “weird” weather. The spring was cool and rainy, and June saw a heat wave. The last frost was also unusually early, giving farmers a chance to plant earlier.

A tour of local churches was planned for Roaring Spring as part of the town’s Anniversary Celebration. A number of churches were planning events to showcase their history and architecture.

A bluegrass festival was being held as a fundraiser for the Southern Cove Fire Company. The two day event was taking place on the Southern Cove Power Reunion Ground...
