The Cove's Fourth of July Celebrations Over the Years

This Herald archive photo is from the 2013 Ag Parade. When it appeared in the July 11, 2013, edition of the Herald, the caption read, "There was no shortage of tractors – a staple of the Ag Parade. Maybe people showed off their new toys. Others proudly rode their restored and antique machines."

Change can be tough, but it's a fact of life. A break away from the decades-old Martinsburg's annual July 4 celebration being pushed forward a week might be a good opportunity to roll with the new format.

But the newsworthy change also provides a great opportunity to look back on past celebrations and talk to some with notable memories.

The new schedule has been well publicized but as a reminder the Agricultural Parade – the highlight of the celebration for many – will be Tuesday, July 12, with fireworks to follow and a second fireworks display Friday, July 15.
