Roe v. Wade Overturned; Pa. Abortion Laws Could Hinge on November's Election


On June 24, the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, ending nearly 50 years of abortion rights protection from the federal government by turning the issue over to each individual state.

Roe v. Wade was overturned when the court ruled in Dobbs v. Jackson that the constitution does not offer a right to abortion. The Jackson Women’s Health Organization had sued Mississippi State Health Inspector Thomas Dobbs, challenging the state’s law banning abortions after the first 15 weeks of pregnancy.
